(dumbass) Q and A

You're Chinese, right?
My nationality is American.  My race is Asian.  My ethnicity is Korean.

But you're a Buddhist, right?
No.  I went to Catholic school because back in the 80's that's where concerned New York parents with some money sent their kids.  I was raised Presbyterian for most of my adolescent years; and as a grown-ass woman, I believe spirituality is personal and private -- Kinda like which political party you're affiliated with or how many people you've slept with.  I personally don't care just as long as you're nice to people and don't eat babies. However,  I do believe spirituality is a completely different concept than religion and it is a critical factor in overall wellness.

Why do you hate hippies?
I don't hate hippies!  Okay, I kinda hate hippies.  I'm down with those hippies back in the 60's - Equality; human rights; and flattering bellbottom jeans for the vertically-challenged.  I am, however, not down with these Neo-Hippies who reject having to work or appreciate the value of money, simply because they've never had to struggle for financial stability.  I plan on studying TCM.  I practice yoga & mediation.  I believe in sustainable living & community welfare; universal healthcare; and am even a lacto-ovo pescatarian but don't you dare mistake me for a Trustafarian

Isn't acupuncture just a sham?
TCM helped me physically regain the muscle/nerve connection when I lost my ability to walk.  Additionally, it has helped me with neural disorders such as: depression, addiction and stress.  I don't just believe that it works, I know that it works.  How it works, physiologically, is what I plan on studying for the next few years.  For general info: Check this out, yo!

Why hate on Western medicine?
Western medicine is brilliant - Gracias, penicillin!.  I am a firm believer in complementary and integrated medicine.  I also believe people should take more responsibility for their own health rather than relying on the "professionals".  Research, ask questions, weigh out the pros and cons, ask more questions, weigh it again, then decide on the treatment plan that you believe is right for you.  I find it interesting some people are willing to take such invasive procedures (physically, chemically) before they even consider an alternative approach.

Can't I just borrow a book & try acupuncture on my friends?
No.

Why aren't you married?
It's just not where I am in my life right now.  To be honest, it's really not in my direct consciousness.  If it happens, it'll happen but right now, I'm focused on educating myself.
